THE TWO COYOTES There were two Coyotes sitting on the side of a field. Coyote says to the other “hey cousin, just so you know, I am Coyote, everyone knows I am Coyote!". Coyote’s cousin says in a shocked voice "what do you mean cousin? I am coyote too!" Coyote says “Not true, I am Coyote and you are just another one". Coyote’s cousin was so upset and did not want to believe this to be true. Coyote says, "you watch cousin, when I walk across this field you will see” Coyote walks across the field and there are people on the other side of the field and they see Coyote and they all exclaim really loud "OH LOOK IT'S A COYOTE". the second Coyote slowly and hesitantly follows behind to join. And the people in the field say "OH LOOK IT'S ANOTHER ONE". The two meet each other on the other side of the field and Coyote says “see cousin? I am Coyote, and you are just ANOTHER ONE"
This was a story told by our late Uncle Bill Edwards. As children we would tease each other, cousins and siblings of being number one “Coyote” and everyone else was “another one”. We carry this story forward, carrying the teachings on what it means to be humble as ANOTHER COYOTE
